These photos taken in 2016 almost 3 years ago, and I didn’t forget it because it’s my birthday that time and very memorable for me. That’s the time taal volcano not yet erupted. But for now in January 12, 2020 Taal Volcanos eruption is very surprising to all the people are not aware of it that it will happen again.
Mt. Maculot is one of the most popular daytrip destinations. It is so popular that on weekends and summer months, there is a sari-sari store, dubbed ‘7-11’ at the campsite. This mountain, at the heart of Batangas, is known as a landmark for locals and travelers alike; it is easily identifiable because of its abruptly terminating east side – forming a cliff that is challenging for rock climbers and breathtaking to everybody else. Others describe the shape of the mountain as ‘igloo-like’.At 930 MASL, the mountain has three destinations: the famous Rockies (706m), the summit (930m) and the Grotto (510m). These can all be covered by a traverse dayhike, but most climbers head to the Rockies, which is the reason why Maculot is the paragon of an easy hike.
It takes about an hour to reach the summit from the Rockies, and there, 930 MASL – the second highest point in Batangas – one can see the Rockies partially surrounded by the waters of Taal Lake; and Taal Volcano too visible and you can take a peek of the Crater Lake itself.

What I have learn from climbing during the rainy days, Mt. Maculot is different than the other moutain is easy for me to climb because you didn’t felt so much tired, you will not become more weak, hungry and thirsty. It’s because you already get wet. Your body will become more energetic and you can enjoy a lot while you climb. It compared to the hottest days because you become weaker and you need to drink a lot of water and other energy drinks and to eat more trail foods, for you to not dehydrate.
It’s more fun to climb in Mt. Maculot Rockies together with your friends and love ones, you enjoy a lot of things the teamwork of waiting for each other, conversation, knowing each other, making new friends etc… And you will enjoy the beauty creations from God, the overlooking view of taal lake in Batangas.
Climbing during rainy days depending on the mountains policies if you are allowing to climb or not due to the weather condition just like bad weather and typhoon.
I thought Mt. Maculot is dangerous to climb during the rainy days, but it’s not true, when I get there a little bit felt nervous because of the bad weather condition but our team will continually decide to assault the mountain, the local guide of Mt. Maculot says its ok to assault because it’s not so muddy because of a combination of soil and rock I mean Rockies, unless it’s windiest but of course they will concern for safety first priority. Pero kung sa tingin ok lng then go ahead. If the weather will not calm down specially when its windiest the local will advise to not continue to assault. If you feel you can’t survive to climb must better to not to continue to assault the mountains for your own safety.
